Matt writes: In past years, the Toronto International Film Festival's annual Ebert Director Award has been given to such revered talents as Martin Scorsese, Claire Denis, Ava DuVernay, Wim Wenders, Agnès Varda, Denis Villeneuve, Chloé Zhao and Taika Waititi.
